Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist Our client, Techgroup America Inc., is seeking a GIS Specialist to support a variety of GIS projects and requests within the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). This role will help keep the Geospatial Technology Unit (GTU) and LAPD better prepared for special large‑scale and minor events.

Responsibilities

Collect and maintain GIS data for LAPD events, including data collection, web map dashboard deployment, and maintenance to support events and the Critical Infrastructure / Key Resources (CIKR) mapping.

Perform geospatial edits for the city’s 911 emergency response system and map creation for the 21 LAPD divisions using ESRI ArcGIS systems.

Develop and maintain web form solutions built with Survey123 to collect CIKR by LAPD site, enabling LAPD to prioritize inventoried CIKR.

Create digital twins in support of LA28 and other major events.

Handle map creation and print requests, including paper and ink maintenance tasks required for plotter printers.

Automate simple and sophisticated GIS tasks with Python scripting to capture and maintain data and create maps.

Qualifications

Proficiency in editing geospatial data, running topologies, and testing.

Strong scripting skills to automate simple and sophisticated GIS tasks.

Ability to create and deploy web map applications within the ArcGIS platform.

Knowledge of working with 3D models and digital twins.

Physical fitness to work with plotter printers and associated hardware.

Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
