Job Overview AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role places you at the center of constructing Amazon Data Centers — industry‑leading, energy‑efficient, cost‑effective facilities. As a Data Center Construction Manager you’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, Commissioning) to deliver high‑quality, safe, and secure data centers at the lowest possible cost.

Key Responsibilities

Lead construction project management and oversee all construction‑related activities for new builds or capital projects, owning scope, quality, schedule, and budget.

Interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases.

Negotiate contracts, evaluate bids, and conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.

Create project scopes, RFPs, and perform financial analyses of construction.

Manage project documents (submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices) and ensure quality control.

Record and report key construction metrics to the team and senior management.

Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis for equipment failures.

Act as owner representative on site, driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing vendors and contractors.

Basic Qualifications

Experience defining data center system‑level architecture, documenting performance, and maintaining project documentation.

Experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large‑scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.

Direct experience in the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science plus 5 years relevant experience; or 9 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

Knowledge of building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).

Knowledge of electrical engineering principles (switchgear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers).

Benefits and Compensation The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800 per year in our highest.
