Job Overview Field Service Technician II – BUR 7,000 Sign‑On Bonus – Smiths Group • Hollywood, Florida, USA.

Position requires daily travel throughout the Burbank–Hollywood area, including airport sites.

Responsibilities

Respond to daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.

Foster positive customer relations and maintain high customer satisfaction through effective communication.

Install, repair, and maintain Trace, X‑Ray, CT, and cargo inspection equipment in the field; provide customer training as required.

Respond to emergency and non‑scheduled calls for service within established response time goals.

Complete all scheduled maintenance within required deadlines and document all work in a timely manner.

Order, install, and return parts and manage repair parts cycle time.

Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and tools.

Maintain currency on all technical certifications.

Review logs for open issues and prepare formal reports to customers as necessary.

Participate in service sales opportunities and assist with promoting and implementing revenue programs.

Seek knowledge growth and support from senior-level FSTs when needed.

Ensure that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

Assess product/equipment performance based on field support data; recommend modifications or improvements.

Provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required.

Participate in site surveys, pilot program activities, meetings, special projects, and prepare exclusive reports.

Possess solid technical knowledge of Trace and X‑Ray technologies.

Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency both oral and written.

Establish and maintain a close relationship with senior-level FSTs and Product Managers to support customer needs and stay aware of current technical trends.

Control and minimize costs while maximizing revenue.

Submit expenses, time cards, and other administrative tasks within specified timelines.

Travel overtime and work hours outside Monday‑Friday may be required.

Comply with department health, safety, and environmental policies.

Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications Education/Training:

Associate’s Degree or related trade certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics). Equivalency through comparable work and life experience of >3 years is acceptable in a related electrical or mechanical field service role.

Computer Literacy:

Competency in MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.

Experience Minimum of 5 years directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.

Knowledge & Skills Excellent communication skills, strong customer focus, teamwork orientation, responsiveness to all customer issues, and willingness & ability to travel on short notice.

Supervision This role may involve supervising others on a project basis.

Background Requirements Requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. Successful completion of a federal background investigation is required.

Can lift/carry 80 lbs.

Confident in operating carts, hoists, davit cranes, pallet jacks, and other devices as specified in manuals and technical advisory documentation.

Capable of working safely in varied environments and around dangerous industrial equipment.

Work Environment Service rendered at airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, or other customer‑specified locations.

Benefits & Hiring Information Salary range: $49,860 – $132,960 per year, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and alignment with internal and market data. The role includes a competitive Business Profit Plan and benefits package.
