BASSANO SCHOOL is hiring! About the Position: We are seeking applications for a part-time Educational Assistant to work mornings as mainstream support. The schedule for this position is Tuesday and Thursdays, and part day on Fridays and the contract runs begins immediately through to April 2, 2026.

Job Duties
Support students in instruction as well as with physical, social and behavioral needs;
Encourage positive interactions between students and staff;
Work closely and collaboratively with school staff including, but not limited to, classroom teachers and administration;
As required, support student needs by performing tasks of lifting, transferring, and providing personal care;
Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student ongoing needs and progress, within professional boundaries;
Follow ethical and professional guidelines when working with students;
Adhere to school policies, safety regulations, and confidentiality requirements; and
Support and participate in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports and may require the EA to participate with students.
Ideal candidate skills & abilities
Enjoys working with students at all ages and stages tasked to support, as well as, being in environment with Pre‑K to grade 12 students.
Able to support students in all subject areas including literacy and numeracy, that is in alignment with their grade and stage.
Strong communication skills; written, verbal, reading and interpersonal.
Able to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and able to deescalate as appropriate.
Able to work and maintain professional conduct at all times including in loud and hectic environments.
Understands and can implement behavior management techniques according to policies, procedures.
Uses patience, empathy, and is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for students.
Able to take direction, ask questions, while also working with autonomy.
Excellent problem solving, organizational and multitasking skills.
Physical capacity to assist with student mobility and positioning (lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/transferring), sit on the floor and/or at small tables/chairs for long periods of time and frequently changing from sitting to standing, and providing personal care, as necessary.
Understands and appreciation Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.
Able to contribute to a classroom and social environment that put students first by supporting diversity and inclusion in alignment with Grasslands values.
Respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity.

Education and Experience
High school or equivalent.
Post‑secondary education instructing or supporting childhood education or a related profession would be considered an asset.
Experience working with children in an educational setting would be considered an asset.
Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in a health‑care, or related setting would be considered an asset.
Required Documentation Successful applicants will be required to submit before start date: Current Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). Original document reported within the last six months of hire date; This is a condition of employment.
Applicants cannot work before a clear CRC with VSC has been provided and approved.
