Job Title:
Construction Manager
Project Details
Repair of approximately 1200 linear feet of an existing levee, and relocation of an irrigation drain at Ramer Lake in Imperial County, CA. The repair work will include dewatering of the site, construction of the levee embankment, lake outlet, and relocation of the irrigation drain.
Provide professional construction management services to manage and oversee the on‑site coordination of the work with the State's architect/engineering contractor (AE), general building construction contractor (GC), the State's management and inspection personnel, local inspection authorities, materials testing personnel, and other parties involved with the construction. Provide communication with the State (RESD-Project Management and Development Branch).
Daily Responsibilities
Act as the on‑site representative, coordinating directly with contractors and monitoring construction progress.
Lead and facilitate OAC project meetings; prepare minutes, maintain documentation, and ensure proper administrative follow‑up.
Assist the State and the State’s IOR in managing and coordinating technical inspections and testing required by the MT&IS contractor.
Assist in preparing a list of incomplete work which does not conform to the contract documents.
Provide monthly progress and schedule reports.
Track and manage submittals, RFIs, field orders, and review potential change orders (PCOs) for merit.
Verify that the GC maintains an accurate and independent record set of updated, printed plans and specifications on site.
Oversee project controls, cost management, pay applications, scheduling, and performance tracking in accordance with client requirements.
Assist the State against defects and deficiencies in the work of the GC.
Ensure all participants adhere to safety standards, contractual obligations, and quality performance expectations.
Oversee project closeout, ensuring collection of guarantees, warranties, and all turnover documentation required for owner acceptance. Perform additional duties as needed to support overall project success.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture and a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Construction Project Manager.
Strong understanding of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Knowledge of design‑phase management, building codes, and permitting agencies.
Proficiency in project controls, scheduling, estimating, cost management, and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple contractors and fast‑paced projects simultaneously.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with document control systems such as Procore and Bluebeam.
