We are looking for committed, service-oriented professionals to lead and develop a unit of Adult Protective Services (APS) investigators.
You will supervise investigators, ensuring compliance with federal and state statutes, approve case actions, and respond to community concerns. This position supports remote work within Arizona if business needs allow and meets performance measures.
Job Duties
Supervise a unit of APS investigators providing adult protective services.
Direct, instruct, and counsel subordinate staff; devise schedules; review and evaluate work products; formulate improvement plans.
Assign cases to staff within required timeframes; monitor cases to resolution and closure.
Monitor safety plans of employees; resolve problems and questions regarding work methods and processes.
Instruct staff in use of the complex system of methods, procedures, rules and regulations utilized by DES.
Read, examine, and review reports; make corrections and adjustments; write detailed reports summarizing activities, transactions, or work products.
Confere with other staff members to discuss, plan, and determine courses of action in APS cases.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Federal and state statutes, DES/DAAS regulations, policies and procedures related to reporting vulnerable adult maltreatment.
Case management and social work practices and principles (e.g., aging and elder rights, psychological abuse, perpetrator characteristics, adult maltreatment).
Client and service delivery systems and statewide community resources.
Management and supervisory techniques.
Skills
Oral and written communication and active listening.
Conflict resolution techniques and team building.
Analyzing and assessing statistical data and reports.
Abilities
Manage, plan, and organize staff assignments and workload.
Write clear, concise, and accurate reports.
Work with adults at risk and interact with various ethnic groups within the community.
Selective Preferences
Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Gerontology, Healthcare, Public Administration or closely related field and 2 years professional case management/investigation experience (intake, needs assessment, service planning, monitoring and evaluation); or
4 years experience providing professional case activities noted above.
Prefer demonstrated experience in supervising or mentoring or as a Standard Work Champion.
Pre-Employment Requirements
In-state travel required.
Driver’s license: current, valid, class‑appropriate, with all required training and record checks.
Background and reference checks; employment contingent upon completion.
Search of Child Protective Services Central Registry and Adult Protective Services Registry.
Level One fingerprint clearance card (A.R.S. 41‑1968).
Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify) completion.
Flexibility to work longer shift hours or after‑hours coverage if necessary.
