The Radiologic Technologist performs prescribed radiographic procedures following established policies, procedures and protocols for diagnostic and evaluation purposes. The technologist must work independently or with a team of other professionals that include other technologists, nurses, and radiologists to deliver outstanding diagnostic imaging service.

Performs full range of radiological exams on patients of all ages.

Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice including confidentiality of all patient and work information.

Obtains accurate histories and ensures patient medical records are complete and accurate.

Exhibits compassion while interacting with patient and families, explaining procedure and positioning thoroughly and answering any questions as appropriate.

Positions for appropriate view, making patient as comfortable as possible for test being performed; adjusts equipment to produce high-quality images.

Monitors and maintains essential patient care and safety during procedures; applies safety principles as identified by established policy.

Prepares/presents images with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.

Performs daily quality control of equipment and other quality assurance/quality control activities as required. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate staff to maintain equipment performance.

Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.

Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices.

Maintains knowledge of American College of Radiology certification and accreditation requirement.

Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow and other operational demands while maintaining quality.

May assist other areas of Radiology and perform other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Detailed knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.

Ability to effectively contribute as a team member promoting cooperation, collaboration and flexibility in working with others to achieve quality patient care

Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer

Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and technical information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience

Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate calmly, compassionately and professionally with patients and families

Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations

Ability to maintain confidentiality, security and standards of ethics with all information

Comply with all state/federal regulations (including HIPAA), company policies, standards and health & safety rules

Demonstrates critical thinking, problem analysis and problem resolution skills

Effective planning, organization and detail-oriented skills

Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly

Ability to set priorities, be flexible and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced environment

Capability to perform on-call, shift, holiday and weekends when required

Ability to effectively utilize department computer systems, EMR, PACS and HIS systems to review and provide accurate documentation of studies

Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to organization values

Certifications & Licensure

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

Must maintain continuing education requirements for certification(s)

If not certified, incumbent will be required to seek and pass certification within 1 year of employment

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Education &Experience

Associates Degree in applied radiologic science or certification from an accredited radiologic technology program

One to two years related experience
