Required Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
Recommended Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
Required Work Experience: Direct - No Experience Required
Recommended Work Experience: Direct - Pediatric
Required Certifications: 1 of the following certifications must be obtained in one year - ARRT (R)(N)(CT) - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), Radiologic Technologist License - Arkansas Department of Health
Recommended Certifications: ARRT - Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Responsibilities
Verifies exams as ordered by physician.
Developing the knowledge to perform correct scan protocols in an effort to decrease radiation exposure to patients.
Developing knowledge of and adherence to all radiation safety recommendations, including patient shielding. ALARA
Developing knowledge to properly administer IV and oral contrast.
Developing ability to explain exams/procedures to patients and families.
Ensures that work area is properly maintained.
Developing knowledge of current or new and evolving technologies in CT.
Maintains equipment and requests service as needed.
Complies with all TJC, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (recommended)
No direct experience required (recommended pediatric experience)
1 certification in CT technology within one year (ARRT (R)(N)(CT) or Arkansas Department of Health license)
Certification in CT technology enhances candidacy (ARRT CT, CNMT)
