Engineering Drafting Supervisor

– Ergon Inc. (Flowood, MS) Salary: $102,900.00‑$135,075.00 Position Summary

The Engineering Drafting Supervisor leads the drafting and design function supporting oil & gas capital projects and sustaining work. This role is responsible for managing drafting resources, enforcing standards, ensuring quality, and meeting project schedules to deliver accurate, constructible 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models. The supervisor supports multi‑discipline project execution‑from early design through IFC and as‑built documentation‑while ensuring compliance with company standards, industry codes, and document control requirements. Key Responsibilities

Drafting Leadership & Resource Management

Lead and supervise internal and contract drafting resources, including workload planning, prioritization, and assignment of work packages. Develop and maintain staffing plans aligned with project schedules and forecasted deliverables. Coach and mentor drafters and designers to support technical growth, standards compliance, and constructability awareness. Coordinate with discipline leads, project managers, construction, and operations to align deliverables and resolve interface conflicts.

Deliverable Production & Quality

Oversee production and coordination of multi‑discipline drawings and models, including PFDs, P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, loop drawings, instrument support documentation, piping general arrangements, isometrics, pipe supports, stress interface details, plot plans, equipment layouts, tie‑in packages, demolition plans, structural steel, foundations, civil site/grading/drainage drawings, electrical one‑lines, layouts, cable routing, grounding, lighting plans, as‑built drawings and redline incorporation. Ensure drawings meet project requirements, codes, and standards, and are coordinated across disciplines. Implement and enforce QA/QC processes, including self‑check, peer check, and lead check procedures.

CAD / Modeling Standards & Tools

Maintain drafting procedures, templates, symbol libraries, layering conventions, title blocks, drawing numbering systems. Maintain 2D and 3D drafting/modeling standards using tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant, MicroStation, Navisworks. Manage model governance activities, clash detection, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination. Drive continuous improvement in drafting standards, automation, and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce rework.

Document Control & Change Management

Ensure compliance with document control procedures, revision control, transmittals, and document management systems. Coordinate alignment with project change processes, revision justification, change logs, and traceability. Manage vendor drawing integration and review cycles to ensure accuracy and alignment with project standards.

Schedule, Interface & Safety Support

Track drafting progress against project plans and provide status updates, look‑ahead schedules, and risk identification. Identify bottlenecks and implement recovery actions, including resource reallocation or schedule adjustments. Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, site walk‑downs, and support HAZOP/LOPA preparation as required. Promote safe work practices and ensure drafting deliverables support safe design and regulatory compliance.

Basic Qualifications

Technical diploma or associate degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of drafting/design experience supporting oil & gas, petrochemical, midstream, or industrial projects. At least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory drafting role. Demonstrated experience delivering IFC packages and supporting construction through RFIs, field changes, and as‑built documentation. Strong working knowledge of industrial drafting practices and common engineering deliverables. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline. Experience supporting multi‑discipline capital projects from concept through construction. Advanced experience with 3D plant modeling tools and model‑based design workflows. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across engineering, construction, and operations teams. Proven ability to improve drafting standards, quality, and productivity.
