Immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Gorham, Maine.
Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
Sign on Bonus: $2,500 (Ryder pays $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days)
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Weekends OFF
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
Basic tools, required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
All other certifications as required by location (required)
Must have a minimum of two years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
Proficiency in computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Position requires driving Ryder vehicles. Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire, pass a Ryder drug test, a DOT physical, a Ryder road test, and a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including previous employers for the last three years).
Responsibilities
Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
Standard vehicle maintenance
Preventive maintenance
Diagnostics of complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
Replaces defective components as instructed
Works unsupervised on most tasks
Performs facility maintenance duties
Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Demonstrates the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Completes two of the OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
