Plant Operator I

Performs a variety of entry level, technical duties related to the operation, maintenance and repair of treatment plant equipment to ensure efficient processing of influent raw sewage and compliance with discharge permit requirements.
Responsibilities
Checks and assures that all stages of the wastewater treatment processes are maintained in working condition; periodically checks pumps, flow, mechanical, and chemical processes and pump stations.
Monitors plant control panels and operation processes including raw pumps, station alarms, final clarifiers, hypo-chlorite building, raw sludge pump house, digester facility and generator facility.
Performs comprehensive daily rounds. Completes check list and logs as required.
Performs general plant maintenance and cleaning on buildings; mops and waxes floors; performs other custodial type duties; collects bar screenings; may haul debris to disposal sites; assists with painting of various plant areas; assists in cleaning clarifiers and transporting sludge. May assist Buildings and Grounds personnel.
Qualifications
Graduation from a standard senior high school or G.E.D.; and Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in treatment plant operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess or be able to obtain within 18 months a grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator certification.
Must posses a valid Utah State Driver License.
Must be willing to work shift work and be in an on-call rotation.
Must pass alcohol and drug test.
Additional Information $22.00/ hour entry level. Pay is dependent on experience.
