Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Biomechanical Engineer Expert Witness
to join our team of technical consultants. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in biomechanics, injury causation, and human motion analysis—translating complex scientific data into clear, defensible opinions for legal cases. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of science and law and takes pride in helping attorneys and juries understand the mechanics behind injuries.
This is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed biomechanical analyses related to motor vehicle accidents, falls, impacts, product failures, and other incidents involving human injury.
Review case materials, including medical records, photographs, accident reports, and witness statements, to evaluate injury consistency and causation.
Prepare comprehensive expert reports and outlining methods, findings, and professional opinions.
Testify as an expert witness in depositions, mediations, and court proceedings, effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Collaborate closely with legal teams to develop case strategies, exhibits, and demonstrative evidence.
Perform physical testing, modeling, or reconstruction as necessary to support biomechanical conclusions.
Stay current on advances in biomechanics, injury criteria, and relevant standards or guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Biomechanical Engineering ,
Mechanical Engineering , or a related discipline (Ph.D. preferred).
Proven experience conducting biomechanical or injury causation analyses, ideally within a forensic or litigation support context.
Familiarity with human tolerance limits, impact dynamics, and motion analysis tools.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to environmental factors, incident dynamics, and other details.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex data clearly and persuasively.
Previous expert witness experience (deposition or trial testimony) required.
Professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent certification desirable.
