This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position:
Incumbent serves as senior maintenance worker at a lake project with responsibility for scheduling, directing and/or performing operations and maintenance of the dam, appurtenant structures, and public use recreational facilities at the dam site.
Duties
Make scheduled inspections through the dam area testing operations on all equipment at the installation to determine condition and need for cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, replacement parts, or other repairs.
Make repairs to dam equipment, reservoir area, storage buildings, roads, etc.
Replace parts in gasoline engines such as spark plugs, defective wiring, fuel and water pumps, contact points, generators, starters, batteries and cables, and other similar parts.
Repair or reline bushings in gate-operating mechanisms, paint interior and exterior of buildings, machinery, dam gates, valves, pumps, handrails, stairways, walls, and trim of operations building and other structural surfaces.
Make periodic inspection of dam structures for cracks, salutation, and erosion, inspects buildings, and dam interior for scales on painted surfaces, rotted wood structures, and other defects.
Lubricate, disassemble, diagnosis of needed repairs, and repairs or reassembles such items as hydraulic systems and gasoline or diesel generating units.
Perform all class of preventive maintenance and repair work on automobiles, light trucks, motor patrol, front-end loader, tractor, dump truck, and 10-ton monorail crane.
Inspect and maintain mechanical equipment in dam such as hydraulic pumps, hydraulic cylinders, standby diesel engine generator, sump pumps, service gates and hoist machinery.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Employee may be appointed as either “Responsible Employee” for property accountability or as “Ordering Officer” for the project.
This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to obtain and maintain a motorboat license in accordance with Coast Guard or Corps requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate motor vehicles in accomplishing assigned duties.
Ability to obtain and maintain a state permit to operate water and sewage treatment plants (where applicable).
Ability to obtain and maintain a license to use herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides (where applicable).
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state issued Class A CDL.
