Our Team John Zink Company, a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) company, serves customers with engineered-to-order solutions. Our equipment group supplies components for various markets, focusing on the refining and petrochemical industry. Field Service Technicians support customers at their sites across the country with commissioning, maintenance, and other service needs.
What You Will Do
Travel to customer sites to perform preventative maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, variable frequency drives, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, combustion equipment, emissions monitoring equipment, digital recorders, and PLCs.
Commission, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs (mainly Allen Bradley and GE) and proportional–integral–derivative (PID) loop controllers, VFDs, Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and other control devices.
Be on call for customer service as required.
Modify technical documents and drawings (redlines) to represent final field changes for commissioning.
Perform maintenance and inspections in confined spaces such as tanks, vaults, and crawl spaces.
Follow all safety protocols for confined space entry, including use of gas monitors and retrieval systems.
Travel extensively in the region (up to 75% travel) and potentially across the U.S.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Experience modifying, diagnosing, and troubleshooting PLCs such as Allen Bradley and GE.
Experience applying the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Experience reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&CID), fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics.
Able to travel over 75% of the time.
Must obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) within the first six weeks of employment.
Valid driver’s license, able to operate company vehicles.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift up to 50 lb on occasion and 25 lb routinely, and bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and maneuver around equipment and piping.
Able to hear distinct sounds, see all colors of the spectrum, and have good visual acuity at close and distance.
Work outdoors and in tight or enclosed environments for extended periods.
Enter and exit confined spaces, which may involve crawling, climbing, or crouching.
What Will Put You Ahead
Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix, RS Linx, GE Rx3i, and comparable PLCs.
2‑year technical degree or 4 years of relevant military service.
Field work experience in petrochemical, power generation, renewable energy, pulp & paper, or food processing industries.
Experience with Modicon, Siemens PLCs, electrical journeyman license.
Experience with industrial safety, OSHA, NFPA 70E, or equivalent.
Experience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4‑20 mA loop devices.
Pay : $35–$47 per hour, variable pay possible.
