Job Title: Packaging Designer (Contract)
Duration: 2-3-month contract
Pay Rate: $30/hour (W2)
Schedule: Full-time, ~40 hours/week (9:00 AM–5:00/6:00 PM)
Work Location: Manhattan, NY
Equipment: Company laptop will be provided
Start: ASAP
Extension / Conversion: Not expected (project-based role)
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Packaging Designer to provide short‑term, hands‑on production support during a high‑volume project period. This role is focused on creating and updating packaging mechanicals and ensuring all files are fully production‑ready. This is an execution‑heavy, detail‑oriented role ideal for someone with strong Adobe Illustrator expertise and prior experience working with packaging, labels, and hangtags.
Key Responsibilities
Create, build, and update packaging mechanicals across multiple formats, including:
Hangtags
Jokers
Add accurate measurements, specifications, and annotations to all files.
Ensure all deliverables are print‑ready, including correct:
Bleeds
Layers
Color callouts
Collaborate with internal teams to implement updates and maintain brand consistency.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Required Qualifications
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required).
Strong understanding of:
Packaging production
Print setup standards
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Prior professional experience required (recent graduates will not be considered).
Preferred Experience
Packaging experience within retail, apparel, or consumer products.
Background in production or technical design rather than purely conceptual design.
Highly detail‑oriented.
Easy to work with and collaborative.
Open to feedback and iterative changes.
Comfortable handling a full workload throughout the day.
Interview Process
