Your role as a Live Unloader As a Full-Time Live Unloader at Barrett Petfood, you can expect a dynamic and engaging daily routine. Each day starts at 8:30 AM and runs until 5 PM, Monday through Friday, providing a consistent schedule that allows for work‑life balance. You will begin by preparing for live unloads, ensuring safety protocols are in place. Your primary responsibilities will include efficiently operating hopper bottoms, managing the unloading process, and coordinating with yard dogs to facilitate smooth logistics.
Throughout your day, you’ll collaborate closely with team members to solve problems and ensure customer‑centric service. Expect to engage in regular communication with drivers and other departments, fostering an innovative atmosphere where safety and integrity are paramount. You’ll be part of a fun and energetic culture, making every day a rewarding experience in the fast‑paced manufacturing environment at Barrett Petfood.
Day to day responsibilities
Works closely with Mill Supervisor and Mill Coordinator on a daily basis
Ensure organization of the trailer lot where bulk ingredients are stored
Confirm trailer inspections and damages are getting completed/recorded
Receive in ingredients into ERP System
Assist in sampling ingredients
Assist in unloading ingredients
Drives quality through monitoring and validating that the product & trailer is within standards, checking paperwork, and ensuring all is correct
Working with the Mill Coordinator to ensure all product is on site and available to use
Mill & trailer sanitation as needed
Notifies Mill Supervisor of any Safety, Quality, or Production escalation issues
Follows safety policies, procedures, and encourages others to work safely
What you need to be successful To excel as a Full-Time Live Unloader at Barrett Petfood, certain skills and qualifications are essential. First and foremost, possessing a valid CDL Class A license is crucial, as it allows you to operate the necessary equipment safely and efficiently. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the manufacturing environment will help you prioritize safety and integrity on the job. Strong problem‑solving skills are vital; you'll need to think quickly and effectively when addressing any challenges that arise during live unloads.
