Job Overview The Estimator II will utilize their expertise to accurately assess project costs and contribute to the success of our electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in electrical estimating, a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, and excellent analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks

Fully understand Rex Moore’s pre-award processes as well as the services provided to the client

Review all bid documents to define scope and identify potential risks; have a strong grasp of requirements along with ability to research and mitigate new risks

Establish the client’s expectations to fully define scope expectations

Provide detailed cost estimates that cover defined scope

Perform accurate material takeoffs of electrical system

Plan and coordinate all aspects of the estimating process, including working with vendors, subcontractors, subconsultants and clients

Obtain quotes on items such as lighting, power distribution, generators, etc.

Review and understand inclusions and exclusions of quotes obtained from outside vendors and select compliant bids, and send required revisions back to non-compliant quoting vendors.

Enter material takeoffs into Accubid

Work in conjunction with our internal Low Voltage and Fire Alarm estimators

Enter all project information into recap sheet for review and approval by supervisor

Schedule and attend estimate review with preconstruction director and project executive of the region supporting the bid

Follow up with clients after bids have been submitted to obtain key information on how Rex Moore finished

Complete the necessary steps upon award of a project to turnover scope, proposal and budget to the project management team

Compile relevant bid documents, quotes, schedules, budget and related items.

Complete project brief

Provide support to relay scope definition and associated backup of how scope was covered to the PM team

Follow up with client as required to determine open items such as alternatives, status of pending contract and release

Establish and maintain contact with client to ensure a smooth contract awarding process

Compensation Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.

Work environment

Estimator II typically works in an office environment, although they may occasionally visit worksites to observe a project or to meet with clients. When on worksites, Estimator II is to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), always including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots and high viz vest/ shirt

Working around energized equipment

This role requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow

Reporting Structure Reports to – Preconstruction Director Department – Pre-Award

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge and understanding of electrical systems and applications in the commercial and industrial environment

Ability to interface comfortably with key personnel from the General Contractors team

Ability to read and interpret plans and specs (electrical and other trades as they pertain to electrical scope)

Thorough knowledge of Bluebeam, Accubid, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Dynamics

Willing to work in a potentially fast-paced environment

Ability to meet deadlines with accurate takeoffs and proposals across complex and/or multiple concurrent estimates

Detail orientated

Ability to work independently

Ability to work within a team setting

Ability to effectively communicate your takeoff approach to other team members and external people

Ability to start, build and maintain relationships with clients and 3rd parties such as architects and engineers.

Willingness to mentor junior team members

Physical Requirements:

Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.

Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.

Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.

Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.

Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors.

Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.

May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
