Job Description Our new
Neurology/Neurosurgery Care Unit (NNCU)
is located in Tower B, 2 East at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. The unit focuses on complex neurological care, including stroke, seizures, brain mass, and spinal surgery. We provide 24‑7 epilepsy monitoring and comprehensive support for med/surg and stepdown patients.
We offer a competitive total rewards package, including a sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000.
Essential Responsibilities
Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order.
Assist physicians in examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
Administer medication as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
Deliver patient care safely and competently.
Resolve patient complaints in a timely manner according to policy.
Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and share care plans throughout the care period.
Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Foster a growth mindset through mentorship, coaching, and maintaining professional certification(s).
Develop a professional career plan and establish performance goals aligned with enterprise metrics.
Foster an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued.
Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications RN I
– 0‑3 years experience, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, current RN license, Basic Life Support certification.
RN II
– 3‑5 years experience, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, current RN license, Basic Life Support certification.
RN III
– 5+ years experience, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred), current RN license, Basic Life Support certification, specialty certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of nursing theory and practices.
Ability to plan and coordinate nursing services.
Ability to maintain civility and positive working relationships.
Ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients.
Skill in computer applications for patient quality and safety.
Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Ability to foster an inclusive workplace.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
