Physical Therapist Assistant – In‑House Registry, Marianjoy Wheaton

– 192 hours per year (4 weekend days per quarter, 2 holidays), Monday‑Friday availability preferred. On‑call/PRN coverage across multiple Northwestern Medicine network locations (Wheaton, Downers Grove, Palos Heights, Elmhurst, Homer Glen, Oak Brook Terrace). Overview Assist licensed Physical Therapists in delivering safe, effective physical therapy services to patients with physical illness, injury, developmental or age‑related impairments. Work under P‑T supervision across all practice settings within the Northwestern Medicine system. Responsibilities Provide physical therapy modalities and treatment procedures per the PT‑established treatment plan, ensuring highest quality patient care. Deliver interventions, patient and family education, and collaborate with team personnel according to hospital policy. Modify interventions within the scope of the established plan of care; obtain PT approval for any changes beyond the plan. Collaborate with supervising PT regarding service termination when maximum benefit is achieved. Appropriately use doubles, grouped, and/or joint treatment sessions. Maintain productivity per Marianjoy policy and manage workload prioritization. Maintain treatment area, equipment, and supply inventory. Carry out additional duties assigned by the director or manager. Remain flexible with schedule to meet patient care and team needs. Adhere to mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine and maintain confidentiality. Implement safe management of cognition, physical, age, and functional limitations using guarding techniques and assistive devices. Document services, patient response, and changes in status accurately and timely. Maintain professional growth through education, including integrating best practices. Ensure timely completion of mandatory education, including CPR certification. Contribute to cost‑effectiveness of departmental services. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant program. BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire. Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in Illinois state. Communication Communicates effectively with team members, patients and caregivers across age, cognitive status, and language abilities. Participates in patient‑related conferences, professional, and organizational meetings as requested. Interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professionals. Communicates suggestions related to opportunities for improvement and maintaining positive relations with all customers. Maintains open communication with the Manager regarding availability and organization growth opportunities.
