Join Our Team: Street Outreach Worker Position Open at Evergreen Youth & Family Services Youth Drop-in Site
Do you want to meet youth where they are and help connect them to safety, stability, and support? Evergreen Youth & Family Services is hiring a Street Outreach Worker to support youth and young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability in the Bemidji area.
This full-time, community-based role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, organized, and comfortable working directly with youth in a variety of settings. You’ll support Evergreen’s Street Outreach efforts by engaging with youth, distributing basic needs items, assisting with follow-up care, and helping ensure outreach services are responsive, respectful, and youth-centered.
Schedule:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week Status:
Non-Exempt Supervisor:
Program Director, Supportive Services
*Flexible scheduling is required, including some evenings and occasional weekends, to meet outreach needs*
What You’ll Do as a Street Outreach Worker:
Participate in street-based and community outreach alongside the Outreach Coordinator
Engage youth and young adults in a respectful, non-judgmental, and supportive manner
Distribute basic needs items such as hygiene kits, food, and clothing
Assist with Drop-In Center outreach coverage weekly
Help track supplies, organize outreach kits, and maintain inventory
Complete documentation and data entry in required systems
Support follow-up care by assisting with referrals, appointments, reminders, and transportation when appropriate
Build positive relationships with partner agencies, schools, tribal programs, and community providers
Assist with community events, resource fairs, and outreach campaigns
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings
What We’re Looking For:
Applicants 21 years of age or older
High school diploma or GED required (post-secondary coursework in social services or a related field preferred)
Experience working with youth, young adults, or vulnerable populations
Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfort working in community settings and varied environments
Alignment with Evergreen’s mission and commitment to serving youth and families
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to be insured on the agency auto policy
Additional Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Successful completion of a Minnesota DHS background study
Drug and/or alcohol testing as required
Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and Data Privacy laws
Wage:
$15.50 –$20.50 per hour
