This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, CAMHC #107.
As the Licensed Practical Nurse, working under general supervision, you will provide psychiatric nursing services to Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) patients and to support the improvement of the medical/mental health of persons served at Columbia Area Mental Health Center (CAMHC).
Responsibilities
Provide direct services to ACT patients to include but not limited to, administering scheduled injectable medications as ordered by the medical provider, assisting in filling pill minders, monitoring vitals, and accompanying patients to medical appointments.
Collect, organize, and record data and information in each patient's medical record according to quality assurance standards, CARF guidelines and corporate compliance standards.
Engage in health promotions, prevention and education activities.
Regularly attend daily team meetings, supervisory meetings, and nursing in-service. Willingly assist with medical and psychiatric needs of patients as called upon.
Ensure the clinic's medication storage area follows regulations required by the Board of Pharmacy. Ensure that there is an adequate system of medication control and accountability in place. Ensure all medications received from the pharmacy are accounted for and logged in a timely manner. Ensure medications are appropriately stored and medication storage area is neat, clean, and secure. Inform the Nurse Director of any continued discrepancies of stock medication that need to be ordered or is not being sent for a patient in a timely manner.
Comply with the Office of Mental Health Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements.
Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from an approved nursing education program per Section 10-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act. Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Post-hire, employees must possess experience in direct clinical service delivery, have extensive knowledge of the symptomology of varying forms of mental illness, have leadership skills, be able to follow directions as states, be able to function with limited supervision, be professional, be able to tolerate multiple demands and demonstrate flexibility when adapting to programmatic changes, and be pro‑active in both clinical and other aspects of the program.
