Overview
Assist the Director of Nursing and Associate Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department. Maintains quality clinical care for residents/patients in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Facility. Responsibilities
Supervises the clinical care planning and delivery processes to ensure the coordination of quality patient care. Reviews and updates the care plan accordingly. Assesses residents/clients upon admission and periodically as conditions change. Performs rounds to evaluate patient condition. Provides or assists with the delivery of direct patient care when indicated, including activities of daily living, meal assistance, medication and treatment administration, and leisure activities when indicated. Obtains and implements Physician Orders, checking for accuracy and completeness. Communicates between shifts regarding changes in resident/patient conditions. Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients/residents, staff and visitors. Provides clinical assessment to MD/NPs on call for quality outcomes delivered to patients. Plans, implements and evaluates the clinical competencies and on-going educational/orientation needs of the staff. Participates in Facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services. Participates in developing, implementing, and periodically updating the resident’s written discharge plan. Ensures that a sufficient number of nursing staff is available for each shift to maintain quality care. Makes daily rounds of the Nursing Services Department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Reports findings to the Director of Nursing Services. Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Current registration and license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state employed in. Peripheral IV certification. Minimum 5+ years nursing experience in a hospital, nursing home or other healthcare setting and a minimum 1-year experience as a nurse supervisor. CPR/BLS certified. Strong knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care centers. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language required; knowledge of other languages helpful. Education / Experience
