As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer and the Care Management Department to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare. Engage in the teaching, consulting, and advising of the care management and utilization review departments and hospital leadership.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement methods and develop care management protocols that optimize the use of hospital services for all patients while ensuring quality care is provided.
Develop expertise on physician practice patterns, over and under-utilization of resources, medical necessity, levels of care, care progression, denial management, compliance with governmental and private payer regulations, appropriate physician coding and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor the Care Management team to optimize resource utilization and patient care.
Ensure compliance with payer regulations and medical necessity criteria (e.g., MCG, InterQual).
Conduct utilization reviews and manage denials/appeals.
Collaborate with physicians and staff to promote appropriate utilization of hospital services.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and utilization committees.
Educate medical staff on utilization guidelines and documentation best practices.
Qualifications
Unrestricted medical license in the State of New Jersey.
Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience.
Strong interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Proven ability to drive results and produce outcomes.
Board Certification by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) preferred.
Membership in the American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA) encouraged.
