You will provide: Transitioning of Care Coordination (TOCC) and wrap-around clinical and cultural in reach support. Culturally grounded mental health assessment and care planning. Care coordination, case management, and therapeutic group programs. Healing supports, clinical yarning, and cultural consultation. Collaborative partnerships with ACCHS, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, families, consumers, and community. Work alongside specialist Aboriginal mental health clinicians, undergraduate clinicians, SEWB workforce and clinicians/treating teams. About You
Our successful candidate will be: Passionate about improving mental health and sustaining the mental health and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people located in your local community. You will enjoy working across many different mental health specialities being emergency, inpatient, community, rehabilitation settings to provide culturally appropriate yarning, healing support, advocacy and consultation for our people accessing the services of Hunter New England Mental Health services. You will be expected to be able to provide cultural knowledge and advice to our non-Aboriginal colleagues and stakeholders about local cultural protocols and the importance of incorporating holistic social and emotional wellbeing care. You will have the strength and passion to enhance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers’ engagement with Mental Health service by listening and learning from our communities lived experience. You will be dedicated to creating a culturally safe and supportive environment within the team and model self-care. Requirements
Completed degree/qualifications in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang program), Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology with membership of (or eligibility for) the relevant professional association and/or current registration (or eligibility for) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in the relevant profession. Applicant seeking appointment as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 must also hold relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification. Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires which may involve driving long distances and overnight stays. How You’ll Be Supported
Supported by Mob and managed by an Aboriginal service manager with a team of 35 Aboriginal staff, clinicians, undergraduates and social emotional wellbeing workforce not one day is the same. Encouraged and supported with self-directed learning and offered the Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) cultural clinical supervision framework to ensure your success in this position, this framework is one of our strategies in HNE mental health service to achieve sustainable employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the public health sector. As an employee you will be able to take 4 hrs a month to reconnect back to culture and maintain your spiritual wellbeing and be paid for it. You will also work alongside an Aboriginal clinical team who specialise in both adult, child and adolescent and participate in daily Aboriginal workforce safety clinical intake huddles, multidisciplinary meetings, attend Aboriginal advisory leadership committees/forums/community events. YAMHS is reducing barriers to emergency and acute inpatient mental health care by creating pathways that are clinically and culturally safe — from arrival in ED through to mental health services. We Are Currently Implementing An Aboriginal Cultural Healing Model Of Care At Calvary Mater Emergency Department, Enabling Collaboration Between Calvary Mater, HNELHD Mental Health Services And Aboriginal Community-controlled Health Sectors To Strengthen access to treatment. Improve clinical and cultural outcomes. Embed culture at the centre of care. YAMHS also delivers community-based support and cultural consultations outside standard hospital pathways, strengthening wellbeing, connection, and continuity of care.
