Clinical Nurse IV‑Specialized Units - Labor and Delivery
Join UNC Health Nash, part of the UNC Health system, and provide compassionate, expert nursing care to mothers and newborns across Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Wilson and surrounding counties.
Summary Deliver competent, evidence‑based clinical nursing care in a hospital setting. Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Director.
Responsibilities
Participate in identifying learning needs of self and attend education programs; use patient education materials relevant to the patient population; assess readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers.
Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance in revising the plan of care; discuss patient care with the interprofessional team; communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing as required; utilize organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources in a timely fashion.
Develop professional growth goals; achieve goals within timeline; participate in unit goals and performance improvement; promote cost‑effective care; provide feedback to coworkers; maintain a safe, clean and secure environment.
Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities; synthesize assessment data; assess and anticipate discharge needs; develop relationships with families to promote advocacy.
Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; address cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
Read journals for applicable studies or articles; bring ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.
Education Requirements Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional Experience Requirements One (1) year of nursing experience.
