Environmental Service Job Description The Environmental Services Technician in a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas. This role involves following infection control and safety guidelines to ensure cleanliness and hygiene for patients, visitors, and staff. The technician will perform various cleaning tasks and assist in laundry duties as needed, contributing to the overall health standards of the facility.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining cleanliness in all assigned areas.
Performing cleaning tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors.
Using appropriate tools and techniques for cleaning.
Wearing proper protective equipment and following safety guidelines.
Assisting in laundry areas as needed.
Using technology applications as needed for communication and task management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience.
Ability to use a computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
