Essential Responsibilities
Collect selected data about patients’ health status, determine purpose of visit and educational needs, check and record vital signs, document data on the medical record, recognize urgent situations, and refer to appropriate provider.
Communicate attentively, coordinate and facilitate care, relay psychosocial and cultural needs, and orient patients and families to the health care team.
Provide patient and family instruction matching learning needs, encourage compliance with therapeutic regimens, and give preventive care information.
Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to KFHPW documentation, safety, infection control, and privacy standards.
Demonstrate responsibility, pursue continued growth, participate in educational activities, and support performance reviews.
Experience Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military experience with ability to obtain MA‑I.
License, Certification, Registration
Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire or Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire.
Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 12 months of hire.
Basic Life Support required at hire.
Additional Requirements
If hired as MA‑I, must obtain MA‑C before expiry of the MA‑I credential.
Knowledge of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Medical Assistant Competencies/Skills Inventory.
Preferred Qualifications
One year MA experience.
