Position Overview A real estate firm is seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented
Assistant Controller
to support the financial operations of a multi‑entity, multi‑property portfolio. This role works closely with the Controller and senior leadership to ensure accurate accounting, timely reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance across all real‑estate entities. The ideal candidate has a strong background in real‑estate accounting and thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations across multiple properties and entities
Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Review tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and year‑end adjustments
Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions
Maintain accurate general ledgers and supporting schedules
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies
Assist with audits, tax preparation, and coordination with external accountants
Support implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real‑estate or property management
Strong understanding of real‑estate accounting, including CAM, tenant billing, and multi‑entity structures
Advanced Excel skills and strong financial reporting capabilities
Experience with property management or accounting systems preferred
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
