The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within our Nursing Unit. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at‑risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. About the Position The individual selected for this position will provide field support to county and resource staff by offering timely and accurate nursing assistance for staff and children in custody, children in prevention phases, and children in investigation phases.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Reviewing, reading, and interpreting physicians’ orders, documentation, and recommendations.

Coordinating care to meet medical needs.

Tracking and monitoring to ensure all medical and dental appointments, as well as all follow‑ups, are completed in a timely manner.

Communicating with healthcare providers and teams about treatment needs and facilitating partnerships with community agencies and providers.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

Knowledge and understanding of medications and diagnoses.

Knowledge and understanding of medical and therapeutic needs for medically fragile children.

Knowledge of resources to meet medical needs.

Coordinating care to meet medical needs.
