Location Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa, is a small town with family focus and big city amenities nearby in Des Moines, Omaha and Kansas City. Lenox is home to a beautiful golf course, fishing lakes, hunting, a city park and an 36‑9‑hole golf course. The MFI Lenox site produces pre‑cooked egg patties and offers a friendly, safe and progressive environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise department team members to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery and cost to achieve company objectives.
Engage and develop asset care team members to deliver expected levels of reliability; be an active member of the MFI culture advancement.
Direct responsibility for the maintenance team members and their performance.
Supervise maintenance or project contractors on site while ensuring human safety, food safety and plant GMP requirements.
Maintain all maintenance team metrics; balance tactical and strategic initiatives that align with plant business strategies during shift work.
Assist with planning and cost estimates for annual and long‑term capital and operating budgets; investigate the condition of buildings, equipment and grounds and recommend improvements to meet business needs.
Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document and support maintenance reporting and decision making under MFI ARM standards.
Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records (SAP data, Kronos, KPI’s, etc.).
Work with planning and scheduling to use team personnel in a cost‑effective manner.
Adhere to established MFI standards for assessing the quality of work performed by employees and contractors.
Supervise the completion of work through review of reports and frequent site inspections.
Recognize and take steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on the business.
Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability improvement to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement; champion the plant’s RCM and RCA process.
Create and foster a team environment that demonstrates genuine concern for personal and professional development of all employees.
Coordinate and partner with corporate stakeholder groups to build and maintain programs and processes consistent with MFI standards.
Promote and foster Michael Foods culture, values and principles.
Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors and ensuring a safe, healthy workplace for everyone.
Maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained; report any conditions that adversely affect food safety and quality.
Ensure required regulatory compliance.
Participate in acquiring talent within the maintenance organization; interview, recruit and select salaried and hourly team members and support talent pipeline efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field preferred; associate’s degree, two‑year technical certificate or relevant experience may also be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in industrial operations, maintenance or utilities operations preferred.
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred.
Trained and competent in MFI MTL1, MTL2 and MTL3 skills preferred.
Prior experience in SAP preferred.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; superb time management skills.
Ability to lead teams and hold team members accountable while achieving results through internal and external resources.
Excellent administrative and follow‑up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen; frequently required to stand and walk; occasionally required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
