Pulmonary Disease - Critical Care - Physician at SSM Health SLUCare Academic Pavilion The Division Director for Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Saint Louis University will lead clinical, research, and educational initiatives across two academic hospitals. This role requires a nationally recognized physician with board certification, strong leadership, and a commitment to advancing patient care and medical education.

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine comprises 30 faculty members and 12 fellows, operating across Saint Louis University Hospital and Saint Mary Hospital, with six ICU teams staffed 24/7 by attending intensivists. Noteworthy programs include the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program, Pulmonary Hypertension program, Sleep Disorder Center, pulmonary embolism response team, Airway Breathing Center, post‑ICU clinic, and interstitial disease and sarcoidosis program.

Key Qualifications

MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree; board‑certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; eligible for medical licensure in Missouri.

Proven track record delivering excellent patient care and training future healthcare leaders.

Nationally recognized academic leader with expertise in clinical care, research, clinical education, and mentorship.

Strong leadership qualities, growth mindset, and advocacy for the division, faculty, trainees, and staff.

History of fostering collaborative initiatives and building trust among colleagues and partners in SSM Health Saint Louis Region and System, and the Saint Louis VA Medical Center.

Integrity, effective communication skills, and the ability to promote a culture of excellence.

Experience recruiting and retaining talent, and national/international recognition through involvement in academic and professional organizations.

Administrative experience in an academic medical center setting and dedication to clinical care, education, service, and research.

Responsibilities

Lead the Division’s clinical, research, and educational initiatives across two academic hospitals.

Grow the research enterprise, elevate the Division’s research portfolio, and achieve national recognition.

Support faculty and trainees, fostering an environment of mentorship and teaching excellence.

Maintain clinical excellence through leadership of 24/7 ICU teams and specialty programs.

Collaborate with stakeholders in SSM Health Saint Louis Region and System, and the Saint Louis VA Medical Center to advance patient care and innovation.

Promote integrity, effective communication, and a culture of excellence within the Division.
