Social Work Assistant 2 (NY HELPS), Central New York Psychiatric Center, Marcy,

Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Social Work Assistant 2 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness.
As a Social Work Assistant 2 at STARC, you will manage a caseload of individuals with more complicated behavioral disorders, including:
Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information
Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services
Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services
Supervising Social Work Assistant 1 and direct care staff
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants from outside or within State Service may be considered under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and 2 years of social work experience.
Master’s degree in social work can substitute for 1 year of specialized experience.
State Service candidates can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list.
State Service candidates can be considered for a transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.
Promotion field consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Social Work Assistant 1.
