Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team ensuring patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care in an environment supported by Wellstar Shared Governance and Professional Practice Models. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
Conducts the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice; ensures care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships.
Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that reflects cultural diversity and adapts service delivery to specific population characteristics.
Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and planned patient teaching; keeps patients’ goals at the forefront of the care plan.
Practices using current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model; includes inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
Demonstrates fiscally responsible teamwork and supports recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance at all system levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
Serves as preceptor or mentor for nurses and other clinical staff, modeling professional practice and fostering a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and data collection.
Upholds all system policies, clinical competencies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements supporting TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Safety Absolutes.
Resources and Support
Proactively plans patient care across the care continuum during direct care.
Participates in development or initiation of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
Supports efficient use of human and material resources; performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
Registered Nurse (RN) – Single State or RN-Compact – Multi-State Compact.
BLS – Basic Life Support or BLS-I – Basic Life Support Instructor.
Required Minimum Experience
Minimum 5 years of RN experience; direct patient care experience is required; preferred experience is a plus.
Required Minimum Skills
Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in English; basic computer skills to support clinical care.
Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect.
Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
