Full-time for Pre-op, Operating Room, and PACU
Job Description
Registered Nurse in Ambulatory Surgery Center with operating room or procedural nursing experience preferred (not required)
Provides expert professional nursing care; assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care rendered to patients with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems and participate in the management of the department.
The registered nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care. Functions within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act, the facility and its policies and procedures and performs in a comparable manner to peers with similar training, experience and circumstances.
Duties:
Promotes the mission, vision and values of Commonwealth Eye Surgery.
Initiates plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and appropriate standards of care pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative.
Documents nursing orders; develops goals and expected outcomes following intervention.
Provides moderate conscious sedation in the presence of the surgeon or anesthesia provider.
Updates plan of care based on continuing assessment of patient.
Initiates and develops discharge planning on admission.
Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Intervenes to meet individual patient needs.
Documents nursing, intervention, patient response, effectiveness, and complications.
Assesses need and plans for patient and family instruction and implements.
Utilizes available resources to assess family / patient knowledge and readiness to accept discharge and care for patient.
Strives for excellence in implementing patient care and provides assurance of patient safety.
Demonstrates accountability for professional conduct and contributes to collegial support.
Participates in the orientation program provided and maintains competency in assigned areas.
Provides circulating services as applicable when needed.
Assists in pre-postoperative working areas.
Promotes a positive team oriented atmosphere.

Orientation Period will require candidate to work until competencies are met. Scheduled shifts thereafter will vary according to center's staffing needs and availability.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kentucky.
Experience:
Nursing: Preferred 6 months experience (not required)
Preferred (not required) recent ambulatory surgery or hospital experience preferred in PREOP, O. R., P.A.C.U. or I.C.U.
BLS certification required.
ACLS certification preferred (Required completion within one year of hire date).
Skills/Abilities:
High degree of communication skills.
Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment.
Work is moderate to heavy; standing and walking much of the time on duty.
Ability to lift and transfer patients.
Ability to cope with professional stress.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations.
