$104,790.40 - $115,564.80 annually depending on qualifications.

Supervising Social Service Practitioners (SSSPs) Children and Family Services (CFS) is recruiting for Supervising Social Service Practitioners (SSSPs) who organize, direct, and supervise a unit of social workers and support staff engaged in the delivery of child welfare services. This recruitment is specifically to fill vacancies at Initial Response Operations (IRO), a fast‑paced 24/7 operation focused on supporting safety and strengthening families in the community.

IRO positions may include, but are not limited to, the following assignments:

Highland Campus:

SSSPs will team with the After‑hours Response Center and Operational Regions to orchestrate the supervision and placement of minors. SSSPs will be responsible for the oversight of after‑hours placement social workers and staff providing direct supervision of minors.

Child and Adult Abuse Hotline (CAAHL):

SSSPs will oversee the work product of a unit of social workers responsible for assessing child and adult abuse reports at the central call center and generating referrals requiring investigation.

After‑hours Response Center (ARC):

SSSPs will oversee social work staff, ensuring timely and complete investigation of reports of child abuse after hours. SSSPs team with other programs to ensure staff are able to support the safety and placement needs of children at imminent risk of abuse and/or neglect.

Schedule Special Shift Availability

(24/7 operation)

will be used to fill shifts requiring availability for weekend/evening/night shifts. Differentials are available for all qualified shifts and vary based on time/day of week.

Evening Shift Assignment (Sun‑Wed):

1:30 PM – 12:00 AM

Evening Shift Assignment (Wed‑Sat):

1:30 PM – 12:00 AM

Night Shift Assignment (Sun‑Wed):

10:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Night Shift Assignment (Wed‑Sat):

Conditions of Employment

Travel:

Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job‑related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance and a clean driving record must be maintained.

Availability:

Available assignments will require weekend and evening or night availability. Assignments will include coverage of one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) as part of the standard shift.

Sponsorship:

Education A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, OR a Master's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling with an emphasis in marriage, family, child counseling, or a closely related field.

Experience Two (2) years of experience equivalent to a journey‑level Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County, performing complex social work assignments, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, in‑depth clinical intervention, and treatment plans for a

government social work agency . Experience as a Social Worker II or Social Service Practitioner I is not considered qualifying. Candidates with qualifying experience in a government child welfare agency are highly preferred. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a strong customer service focus while performing in a lead or supervisory role. Completion of a supervisory development program is also desirable. There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire; therefore it is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible.
