Your Contribution:

Provide the highest quality services for veterans

Participate in facility meetings, training sessions, and the implementation of the Arizona Management System (AMS) to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency

Use and develop your potential within a supportive team environment

Job Duties:

Inspect all areas on a regular basis to determine maintenance and repair needs

Collect work requests

Prioritize tasks and complete in a timely manner

Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting maintenance and repair work

Maintain and repair equipment

Maintain records of materials used and time expended

Adhere to safety codes/standards

Remain involved in AMS processes such as Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

Rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of section and work unit

Methods and practices applied in generalized preventive maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction

Tools, equipment and materials used in the workplace

Methods and techniques used in lifting, moving, stacking, storing and protecting tools, equipment and materials

Skill in:

Verbal and written communications

Customer service

Doing preventive maintenance and general repairs

Properly using and inspecting tools, equipment and materials

Coordinating with contracted vendors

Inspecting, determining repairs and replacements and scheduling and prioritizing work

Ability to:

Interact positively and professionally with staff and residents of the Arizona State Veteran Home

Safely operate a State vehicle, which may include passengers (other State employees and/or nursing home residents)

Selective Preference(s):

Experience with drywall, painting, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a Physician, Physician’s Assistant or a Registered Nurse Practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis

Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety

The ability to drive on state business. Possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state‑issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment is required. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see A.AC. R2-10-207.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Please note, enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
