Job Summary The LPN participates in all quality and core curriculum classes, attends professional development workshops and peer support groups, and completes all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program. They work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team while refining nursing knowledge and skills. They actively manage clinical situations for which they are assigned under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, overseeing all clinical experiences, documentation, and procedures in the clinical environment. They adhere to policy and procedure requirements such as licensure renewal, training, health screenings, attendance, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. Service Line: Adult Multispecialty Facility: North Greenville Hospital – Travelers Rest, SC Unit: Long Term Acute Care All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Collect patient data, complete required forms, identify patient problems, communicate with the RN, review and record diagnostic results, and perform patient care under RN supervision. Participate in interdisciplinary care to provide input on the plan of care based on the nursing process, incorporating other disciplines' plans and continuing care needs; make referrals to multidisciplinary support services under RN supervision. Provide care that conforms to accepted practice standards; administer treatments/procedures and other care as prescribed and according to patient care standards; demonstrate understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of patients served; explain nursing procedures; provide discharge teaching; identify emergency situations and escalates to the RN; advocate for patient care with other health care personnel and evaluate patient care measures instituted; respect patient rights and utilize established mechanisms for managing ethical issues in patient care under RN supervision. Record patient care delivered as planned and any variation with appropriate rationale; observe related impending or associated problems; implement nursing measures related to impending or associated problems under RN supervision. Integrate cost-effective measures into nursing practice; recognize unit problems and take responsibility for escalating to the RN; participate actively in QI processes; comply with hospital expectations to meet staffing demands based on patient care needs; comply with policies addressing safe working conditions; monitor unsafe working conditions; recognize inappropriate and/or ineffective patient care management, resolve issue/problem and complete written reports; fulfill call for unit as assigned and adjust staffing for census (volume) and acuity under RN supervision. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive. Minimum Requirements Education – Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing. Experience – Candidates with greater than twelve (12) months LPN experience are not eligible to participate. In Lieu Of In lieu of completion of an LPN program, we will accept program equivalency recognized by the State Board of Nursing. Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Holds a current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an LPN in the state the team member is working. If an LPN team member working in this position obtains RN licensure, Prisma Health will accept RN licensure for a limited time until the team member can be placed in an RN position. Team members should immediately notify their manager and Talent Acquisition if they are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.
