is home to six Nashville gastroenterologists who are among the best in the area. Our GI doctors have an average Adenoma Detection Rate of 30.88 %, exceeding the national average by over 10 %, and an average cecal intubation rate of 98.5 percent, compared to the national average of 90 percent.
POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the designated Nurse Manager, the staff nurse is responsible for professional, direct patient care in the nurse role. The staff nurse will utilize the nursing process within their scope of practice to assess, develop nursing diagnoses, develop a plan of care, implement the plan, monitor for effectiveness, and adjust as appropriate for each patient’s plan of care. The staff nurse is responsible for care, in areas assigned, within the Surgery Center, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
RN with an active license—MD, no restrictions
One (1) year of nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
CPR certification and/or ACLS‑PALS certification
Strong ethical and moral character references
Basic computer skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain and document patient’s medical history and perform physical assessment
Use proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice and center policies and procedures
Apply dressings and assess status
Safely use medical equipment per manufacturer’s instructions
Insert, assess, or discontinue various catheters and tubes
Effectively organize and avoid wasteful practices of time, equipment, and supplies
Observe universal precautions
Attend all required education
Maintain regular and predictable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
Regulatory/Compliance
Contribute to the progress and development of the center’s compliance program
Perform according to accreditation requirements, regulatory standards and center policies and procedures
Adhere to patients’ rights and responsibilities and support them in performance of job duties
Adhere to rules and regulations for Protected Health Information (PHI) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) protections of patient information
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
Perform according to the center’s adopted policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with the center’s adopted QAPI program, policies and procedures
Proactively contribute to the QAPI process and identify personal role and contributions
Communication
Professionally and effectively communicate patient care needs and significant information to the healthcare team to promote continuity of patient care in a clear and concise manner
Work collaboratively with center leadership on patient and staff scheduling according to policies, procedures, and center needs
Effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with physicians, managers, employees, clients, vendors, and the general public
Interact with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
Teamwork
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team
Delegate staffing duties appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel and LVN/LPN, in accordance with scope of practice and center policies and procedures
Report observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure non‑compliance to Center Leader, Safety Officer, and Clinical Director
Actively participate in staff meetings, in‑services, continuing education, and the QAPI program
