A Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Department of Aging for a Senior Center Nutrition Site Specialist.
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Job Purpose Under the supervision of the Nutrition Program Manager, oversees the operation of nutrition sites in a specified geographic region.
Essential Job Duties
Monitors nutrition site for compliance with policies and procedures.
Monitors volunteer and paid leaders and assists with daily operational issues.
Assists in the recruitment of volunteers and program participants and marketing of the Eating Together Program.
Works with volunteer leader(s) and resident manager concerning facility-related issues.
Assists the leader in reporting/facilitating issues with Caterer and Nutrition Office related to food quality and delivery.
Monitors and assists with proper reporting and cash management, including:
Daily Attendance and Meal Count Reports, Weekly Nutrition Reports, Supply Orders, Service Delivery Reports, and Volunteer Hours Reports related to the Eating Together Program.
Conducts registration of participants to the Eating Together Program and enters clients into My Senior Center/BC-Pass.
Conducts Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) trainings and nutrition education programs.
Cooperates with nutrition staff in the provision of training to volunteer leaders and program volunteers.
Examples of Other Duties Attends meetings as required and completes other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized high school or an appropriate equivalency;
One year's experience in a senior center, nutrition sites, congregate meal services, community involvement, or other food service experience.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of the objectives and purposes of the Eating Together Program and related programs and services for older adults.
Ability to work effectively with senior adults, volunteers, and the community in general.
Ability to make simple calculations and keep standard records, including using a computer (Excel and Word).
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must be ServSafe certified or obtain this certification within 6 months of hire.
Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid Non-Commercial Class C Maryland Driver's license of an appropriate equivalent is required at the time of appointment.
Applicants selected for this position will be required to travel to sites throughout Baltimore County using their personal vehicle. Employees will be reimbursed for mileage.
Must be ServSafe certified or obtain this certification within 6 months of hire.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of the training and experience they report in their application, including responses to the supplemental questions. Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation, including, but not limited to, criminal background, education certification, and fingerprinting checks.
Physical and Environmental Conditions These positions are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, lifting, or other limited physical activity.
This position requires you to work afternoons and early evenings, with occasional weekend work.
