Responsibilities
Provide expert nursing care to patients in outpatient clinics.
Provide telephone triage, patient teaching, direct patient care including injections, documentation with follow-up and coordination with ancillary services and related departments.
Provide functional supervision to allied health staff.
Assist with patient flow as necessary and appropriate.
Work with licensed providers to develop and carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses.
Participate as a professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Teach patients and families pertinent information regarding the patient condition and treatment plans.
Coordinate infusion therapies.
Assist in orientation of team members as appropriate, including observation and participation of patient care activities.
Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
Take live patient calls associated with Nurse Answer line.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan (RN).
Two (2) years, within the last (5) five years of RN experience caring for adult medicine patients in the ambulatory setting.
One (1) year out of the last three (3) years of RN experience with telehealth and phone triage nursing, including patient triage and providing education by telephone or patient facing care.
Proficiency with MiChart management and documentation in electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and or performance evaluation in the past two (2) out of five (5) years RN experience.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidence by interview, resume, annual evaluations, and references.
NOTE: Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Additional Education and Experience
A minimum of two (2) years out of the last five (5) years of RN experience providing care to adult patients with rheumatology and auto‑immune related diagnosis.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at the time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Schedule and Compensation
40 hours/week.
Day shift, Monday through Friday, with possibility for evenings, weekends and holidays based on clinic needs. Flexibility is required.
Location: Taubman Center, Briarwood Health Associates, and possibility to work at other offsite Rheumatology service locations.
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U‑M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U‑M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
