Associate Athletic Trainer – Football

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director of Sports Medicine – Football, coordinate a high‑level program of athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation for UCLA student‑athletes. Organize injury prevention programs, share responsibility for athletic training services for football and other sports, and provide a designated coverage for football and/or other sports as assigned. Coordinate physical exams for the team, evaluate, treat, and document injuries, design and supervise rehabilitation programs, and supervise and counsel sports medicine student interns assigned to practice and game coverage. Communicate and document athletes’ progress to athletic training staff, physicians, conditioning staff and coaches; maintain written and computerized documentation on all injuries, treatments and rehabilitation; and refer injured athletes to UCLA team physicians as appropriate. Administrative and other duties are assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Responsibilities

Communicate athlete progress to staff, physicians, conditioning staff, and coaches.
Maintain written and computerized documentation on all injuries, treatments and rehabilitation.
Refer injured athletes to team physicians as appropriate.
Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

Qualifications
Previous NCAA Division I experience. (Preferred)
Previous experience with NCAA Division I Football, Professional Football or other contact sport preferred. (Preferred)
Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics as related to musculoskeletal athletic injuries of the peripheral joints and spine. (Required)
Ability to perform clinical and sideline evaluation of injury and provide immediate management, as well as design and implement basic treatment programs. (Required)
Ability to operate therapeutic modalities and exercise equipment. (Required)
Ability to write and maintain accurate and concise evaluations and treatment records. (Required)
Working knowledge and basic skill in therapeutic exercise techniques and functional progression programs. (Required)
Working knowledge and basic skill in application of peripheral joint/soft tissue techniques, protective wraps, tape, and bracing devices. (Required)
Ability to communicate with and maintain cooperative working relationships with all staff, physicians, coaches, student‑athletes, and outside vendors through clear and concise correspondence and reports. (Required)
Working knowledge of common systemic illnesses and management which may interfere with athletic participation. (Required)
Demonstrated skill in progressing athletes’ rehabilitation programs independently or in consultation with staff physical therapist or team physicians. (Required)
Ability to perform under difficult situations and maintain composure in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility. (Required)
Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of various computer software systems: Microsoft Office applications and Smartabase Injury Tracking Software. (Required)
Knowledge of departmental, university, Big 10, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations are preferred. (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Education and relevant experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. (Required)
Master’s Degree. (Preferred)
Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA non‑commercial Class C License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
Certified as an athletic trainer in good standing with the NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification). (Required)
Must be CPR/AED certified. (Required)

Driving record: the position is subject to the California DMV Pull Notice System and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
