Job Summary The Certified Nurse Midwife at Prevea Health is responsible for the full scope of midwifery services, including gynecology throughout the life‑cycle, prenatal education, attending childbirth, providing encouragement during labor and delivery, and supervising the general care of women and children directly after birth. The role facilitates care to women during normal pregnancies and deliveries and calls on obstetricians or other physicians if complications develop. It also provides medical services and contributes to the design and delivery of high quality, value‑based patient care for Prevea Health patients.
What you will do
Manage overall care of healthy childbearing through the prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum experience, including newborn assessment at delivery and lactation support.
Provide gynecological care such as wellness exams and family planning assistance.
Evaluate and provide treatment procedures necessary in urgent medical situations and consult the collaborating or on‑call physician.
Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate to scope of practice. Provide primary care to women, including obtaining histories, performing appropriate medical exams, conducting health screenings, diagnosing, treating and monitoring common and acute health problems, and providing health education.
Act as surgical assistant at c‑section and gynecological procedures.
Education Qualifications
Master's Degree graduate of an accredited nursing and midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) – Required.
Experience Qualifications
1–3 years clinical experience as a registered nurse in labor and delivery – Preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Maintain appropriate and complete clinical records, fostering communication between health care providers, continuity of care, and coordination of services.
Maintain knowledge of current statutes regulating nurse‑midwifery practice and provide services within limitations established by state licensure boards, local and federal regulations.
Knowledge of principles and skills needed to provide patient care within scope of practice.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to provide patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Foster work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills, behaviors, and communication.

Work in a fast‑paced environment.

Licenses and Certifications
CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from approved program – Required.
Certified by the national credentialing body, American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) – Required upon hire.
Licensed in the State of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse – Required upon hire.
Certified in the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber or pending status – Required upon hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) – Preferred.
