Responsibilities
Assist administrators and staff members with total school health program and render specific health services.
Train and supervise health clerks and/or specialized health providers.
Provide emergency service for injury or sudden illness.
Help prevent and control diseases.
Confer and serve as resource person with pupils, parents, teachers, and community on health problems (physical, mental and emotional) and their corrections.
Administer mandated and other tests to ascertain student needs.
Inspect for communicable conditions and recommend exclusions.
Keep up-to-date cumulative health records on each pupil.
Confer with school personnel on suitable health education materials and projects.
Assist with presentation and evaluation of health programs.
Provide health and related services to individual students as required.
Make home calls when needed.
Participate in IEP team and student study team meetings as needed.
Train school based staff on required health care services as appropriate.
Administer health and develop mental inventories.
Serve as a resource person in areas of health and welfare to community, teachers, parents, families, school community and health agencies and other personnel as time permits.
Overview The East Whittier City School District provides educational opportunities (transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, including special education) for approximately 7,400 children. The District employs approximately 1,000 teachers, administrators and support staff. We have 13 schools which operate on a traditional school year schedule.
