Registered Nurse – Dedicated Education Unit (FT Days)
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Position Details Sign‑On Bonus Available: $10,000 for full‑time RNs with at least 1 year of experience. No contract.
Education Unit Overview:
The new Mercy Hospital Fort Smith Dedicated Education Unit is an 18‑bed unit focused on teaching eager and upcoming graduate nurses the fundamental skills necessary to be successful. We are looking to build a team of highly engaged nurses who have a passion for education, patient care, and best practices. This unit will care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 4:1 patient‑to‑nurse ratio (day shift only). Each nurse will act as a preceptor to two senior‑level nursing students who will take total care of the 4 patients. A clinical rotation preceptor will also be available for support/oversight of the students.
Responsibilities
Provide patient care using the nursing process.
Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients.
Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
Coordinate patient care with other departments.
Protect patient rights and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Education : Graduate of a nursing school (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure : Responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license in the hiring state or compact state, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
Certifications : Must have an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain them within 90 days of hire.
