What You’ll Do Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Heat Treat Technician II is responsible for operating and monitoring heat treating equipment used to alter the physical and mechanical properties of metal components. This role ensures that materials meet strict hardness, strength, and durability specifications as outlined in work orders, process sheets, and technical drawings.
Shift Schedule: 1st Shift 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Setup, assemble, and operate product lines on all related heat treat furnaces to meet desired specifications
Rack and load work into furnace and set temperature controls
Verify temperature, temperature control settings, soak times, and atmosphere
Insert, position, and adjust load thermocouples
Remove parts from furnaces after specified times, and air dry or cool parts
Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times
Reduce heat when processing is complete to allow parts to cool in furnaces or machinery
Verify part cleanliness before and after heat treatment
Position product in fixture or furnaces, using overhead hoist or forklift
Perform daily/weekly operator maintenance on heat treat equipment/tools (oil, clean, and inspection
Accurately execute PCS (Process Control Sheets) and provide feedback when revisions are needed
Assist Engineering with the implementation, creation, and maintenance of PCS
Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
Accomplish organization goals by actively exploring opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)
Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
Complete job assignments as directed by Manufacturing Manager
Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed
Safety
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Comply with all company rules including company safety policy and all federal, state, local, and other safety regulations and practices
Use personal protective equipment and devices provided for machinery, equipment, tools and processes, when defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis or Management direction
Report all unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries immediately to management
Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following Company instructions
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Store and maintain tools, equipment and gauges as defined by company standards
Keep work area clean and organized to company standards/expectations
Daily cleaning and sweeping of work area, tools and equipment
Empty trash and waste as needed
Personal items removed from workstations
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
Minimum 3 years proven experience in Heat Treat experience
Demonstrate a working knowledge of understanding blueprint requirements and ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Forklift experience is preferred
Reliable transportation
Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills
Ability to effectively manage time, multi‑task, and pay close attention to details
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Capable of following directions
Take responsibility for achieving production efficiency, quality of product and reports discrepant material immediately
Demonstrate customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers
Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly with others
Solve problems proactively and contribute to continuously improving the process/product
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
