Anesthesia Technician

What You Can Expect To Do Pre-Procedure Prep:
Use your skills to ensure the patient, equipment, medications, and procedure areas are ready for planned and emergent procedures.
Anesthesia Administration:
You’ll be responsible for inducing and maintaining patients under general anesthesia and sedation, including injectable, inhalant, and CRI anesthesia.
Patient Monitoring:
During procedures, you’re the go‑to for adjusting anesthesia levels and ensuring everything’s running like clockwork. If anything seems off, you’re quick on your feet and ready to respond to emergencies.
Recovery:
As the patient starts to wake up, you’re there to monitor and ensure a safe and gentle recovery.
Record-Keeping:
You’ll keep detailed records of the anesthetic procedures—what was used, how the patient responded, and any other events along the way.
Collaboration:
You will partner with our various department teams to plan and coordinate anesthesia protocols for each patient, while communicating with the team on patient status.
Equipment Management:
Perform routine maintenance on anesthesia equipment, ensuring functionality and safety. Calibrate and troubleshoot anesthesia machines, ventilators, and monitoring devices. Keep an inventory of anesthesia-related supplies and medications.
Patient Advocacy:
Advocate for the well‑being and comfort of patients before, during, and after anesthesia. Implement and maintain protocols for pre‑anesthetic patient assessment and post‑anesthetic recovery.
Qualifications 1‑2 years of anesthetic monitoring in a veterinary setting, with a preference for a surgery or specialty/referral practice.
Strong knowledge of veterinary anesthetic drugs and their effects, backed by specialized training and expertise.
Skilled in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, drug calculations, and other technical skills.
Strong medical math skills and experience with drug calculations.
Attention to detail, must be thorough in your work, with a focus on accuracy, especially in critical moments.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can juggle multiple tasks.
Compassionate, detail‑oriented, and a team player.
Preferred
– Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification.
