Overview
The Stanley G. Falk School is one of the largest and most successful Special Education Day Schools in all of New York State. As the Speech/Language Therapist you will provide individual or group therapy to students with speech, voice, or language disorders to improve their language skills and academic performance.
Responsibilities
Planning and providing appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Implementation Plan.
Providing therapy services in the areas of speech, voice, or language disorders in individual and group setting.
Collaborating with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning and service delivery.
Evaluating the student’s ability and formulating the student’s IEP goals through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, histories, and interviews.
Compiling evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational plan.
Participating in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrating findings with other disciplines, offering recommendations, and developing individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.
Monitoring and reassessing the effects of speech therapy interventions and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
Responding calmly and objectively in situations involving students with extreme/sustained behaviors.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited speech language pathology program, Current license by the New York State Education Department.
Dynamic therapeutic presence required.
Knowledge of multicultural development.
Maintain discipline and control disruptive student behavior.
Valid driver license preferred.
Compensation and Benefits Competitive Pay starting from $36.77 per hour.
Shift: Monday through Friday 7:35 AM – 2:35 PM
