The Mobile Equipment Manager will report to the Division Senior Manager of Operational Excellence. The individual is tasked with leading the equipment reliability program for the region that aligns with the enterprise, division and regional goals. In this role, the Mobile Equipment Manager will serve as a Dealer liaison to support operations and align equipment life strategy that yields long-term availability goals. The Mobile Equipment Manager will quantify financial merit of various improvement initiatives for their area of responsibility and maintain a database for tracking progress. The Mobile Equipment Manager will be challenged to increase operational availability through identifying and managing maintenance practices which will yield cost savings outlined by the Operational Excellence Initiative for the enterprise and division. This position will sit in Alpharetta, GA.
Primary Responsibilities
Ensures strict adherence to Martin Marietta’s safe working policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all regulatory safety, health, environmental, transportation, and business ethics requirements.
Manage all major preferred supplier relationships, working closely with dealer support representatives and technicians to ensure alignment in operational and reliability expectations
Identify and coordinate mobile equipment operation, inspection and maintenance training for operators, technicians and managers
Collaborate with operations to implement division mobile strategy – maintenance and operating standards throughout assigned territory
Work with division and regional leadership to establish and implement mobile equipment preventative maintenance standards
Review of oil samples and equipment alerts. Work with plant/district Leadership to identify corrective action and ensure follow-through. Generate RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and document follow-up actions.
Perform site surveys and fleet performance studies
Complete analysis of life cycle of machines and prioritize replacement recommendations
Prioritize and manage rebuilds with dealers that meet full life expectancy and budgets
Assist mine planning team with haulage plans as needed
Perform contamination control studies and provide training to site personnel
Database Maintenance:
Audit WO and PM history as needed to keep database current
Maintain database of large critical spare components and under-utilized yellow iron assets, and rental equipment
Scan fleet performance data on a weekly basis in assigned territory and flag applications for inconsistencies. Communicate problematic trends to district leadership
Other Requirements
Commit to a regimen of continuing education in key focus areas improving technical knowledge, group facilitation, industry-specific innovations and continuous improvement principles
Communicate with supervisor and internal customers to determine priority tasks monthly
Overnight travel as required (~35%)
Project management as needed
Supporting Division departments and participation on committees as needed
Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent and two years of vocational training. Five to ten years of supervisory/management experience maintaining and repairing large mobile and/or fixed equipment fleets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations
Extensive knowledge of reliability centered maintenance principles and predictive maintenance technologies
Extensive knowledge of mining and processing equipment operations and maintenance
Proven knowledge of planning, managing resources, and project management
Proven strong leadership and team building skills and a track record for creating employee ownership of safety, production, and quality
Excellent time management as well as planning skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Effective oral and written communication skills
