Overview Rocket Lab is an end‑to‑end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components and more with the goal of opening access to space. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security and exciting new technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit while we work to develop Neutron, our upcoming medium‑lift reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment. Our Space Systems business designs and builds an extensive line of satellites, payloads and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.

Responsibilities

Work on a high‑caliber cross‑functional team.

Build carbon fiber structures, mechanical structures and related components.

Watch the hardware you build evolve into a completed rocket and go to space.

Uphold shop cleanliness and organization.

Utilize proper PPE.

Integrate mechanical hardware.

Qualifications Level I

High School Diploma or GED with knowledge of mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance.

A&P License.

Familiarity with hand, power, pneumatic and inspection tools.

Level II

High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance environment.

A&P License or relevant military experience in fixed or rotor‑wing maintenance.

Familiarity with hand, power, pneumatic and inspection tools.

Level III

High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance environment.

A&P License or relevant military experience in fixed or rotor‑wing maintenance.

Familiarity with hand, power, pneumatic and inspection tools.

Senior A&P Mechanic

High School Diploma or GED with 8 years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance environment.

A&P License or relevant military experience in fixed or rotor‑wing maintenance.

Familiarity with hand, power, pneumatic and inspection tools.

Nice to Have

A&P certification or relevant military experience.

2 years experience in new‑space or aerospace industry.

Experience performing depot‑level mechanic work on aircraft.

Military field experience is a significant advantage.

Experience with scheduled maintenance at the C&D check level.

Additional Requirements

Standing for long periods, climbing ladders and work platforms, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required.

Able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.

Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.

Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle controls or tools.

Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods (≥8 hours).

Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces.

Base pay range (MD only): $20.58 – $43.75 USD.

Location: Rocket Lab Space Structures Complex, Middle River, Maryland.
