Job Summary Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness, supervising and monitoring nursing staff to obtain the highest quality care through routine nursing duties. Accountable to the Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and for maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise HHAs, CNAs and facility staff.
Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents as needed.
Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to the Director of Wellness or delegated RN/Physician.
Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders accurately and safely, and report effectiveness to the physician if needed.
Inform the Director of Wellness when supplies and equipment are needed.
Order medication from pharmacy when necessary.
Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure all nursing care is provided properly, safely, and with the highest quality.
Administer emergency first aid.
Ensure daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties are carried out; document vitals, weights, nurse’s notes, medication logs, etc.
Make daily rounds of all patients and areas, interpreting and reporting conditions to the DOW/RN/ED as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the nurse’s station, medication room, and cart.
Assist in the orientation of new staff.
Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
Provide guidance for nursing.>
Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and personnel.
Perform related work as required per assignment.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice in the state.
Work experience in the geriatric field.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interact courteously with visitors, staff, and residents.
Physical capacity to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure when required.
Maintains good personal grooming, hygiene, and punctual attendance.
Professional appearance and empathetic attitude toward seniors.
Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when necessary.
CPR certified, or obtain certification within 90 days of hire and renew annually.
